Special Communications Systems (SCS) developed and manufactures the high quality RF Modems that use the popular Pactor 2 and 3 protocols.

All SCS Pactor modem models will maintain links in conditions with signal to noise ratios of minus 18 dB, transferring data with absolutely inaudible signals. The PACTOR-II mode is the industry standard, and the most robust digital mode available for radio data connections.
PTC-IIpro: The ultimate HF modem! Fast, full featured and upgradable to PACTOR-III. Send email, transfer files and establish real-time data links. The PTC-IIpro modem is the multi mode data interface between your PC and radio equipment.
PTC-IIusb: The ultimate HF modem! Fast, full featured and upgradable to PACTOR-III. Send email, transfer files and establish real-time data links. The PTC-IIusb modem is the multi mode data interface between your PC and radio equipment.
PTC-IIex: The small companion of the PTC-IIpro is small in size, but not in performance, is upgradable to Pactor III and perfect for portable use. The PTC-IIex modem is an affordable data interface between your PC and radio equipment. The PTC-IIex is less expensive than its full featured brothers, the PTC-IIpro and PTC-IIusb, without sacrificing performance.
The SCS Tracker / DSP TNC: The SCS Tracker / DSP TNC is worldwide the first Terminal Node Controller using a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) as protocol and as modem processor. The close relationship between the hardware level and the higher protocol levels opens the possibility for unique applications.
The SCS PTC-IInet: The PTC-IInet is a neat combination of a PACTOR modem (with transceiver control) and a Linux-PC, where both find their place together in a PTC-IIpro sized case. The PTC-IInet has a network connection (Ethernet 10/100) and can with this directly be connected to a router. If that router is connected to the Internet (e.g. via DSL- or cable-modem) then the PTC-IInet is also "online" this way. The PTC-IInet is only available with the Pactor 3 protocol.
PACTOR III: is an optional high speed upgrade for nearly all PTC modems produced since 1995. PACTOR III enables data rates up to 4800 baud, operates on a 2.4 Khz channel and is 2 to 4 times faster than PACTOR II.
SCS Pactor “Plug and Play” Modem Kits
We specialize in providing “Plug and Play” kits for all models of SCS Pactor modems. These kits provide all of the custom cables and other accessories required to interface the modem to most makes and models of marine and amateur HF radio transceivers.
- 1 - SCS Pactor Modem of your choice,
- 1 - Modem to radio data cable c/w the radio connector that matches the make and model of your HF transceiver,
- 1 - PC to Modem cable. (USB to USA data cable for the PTC-IIusb and a serial data cable for the PTC-IIex and PTC-IIpro modems),
- 1 - Frequency Control Cable for PTC-IIpro and PTC-IIusb modems. This cable provides radio frequency control via the modem using Airmail PC software.
Note: The PTC-IIex modem does not provide frequency control from the modem, but frequency control can still easily be accomplished direct from the PC. - 6 - ¼” ‘FairRite’ brand Type 31 clip on RF (Radio Frequency) chokes. The PC to modem, modem to radio data and modem to radio frequency control cables should have a choke placed on each cable end. This choke will help to stop RF interference due to the close proximity and high power of your HF transceiver from interfering with the operation of your computer and modem,
- 1 - CD containing all of the latest software required for Sail Mail, Airmail and Weather FAX implementation. This CD also contains service manuals for most of the popular Icom, Kenwood, Yaesu, SEA and SGC Marine and Amateur HF transceivers.
